I am devastated! Sweet Penelope (Ms P) went to heaven this afternoon.
I came home and found her in the backyard in the corner turned over and deceased.
Roy was kind enough to build her a mini tortoise coffin right after I called him, and brought it right over so we can bury her next to her tortoise enclosure. I made sure to give her a nice warm blanket to rest peacefully on.
You were so personable, and my heart is broken. Eat lots of prickly pear in heaven, and say hi to Lana, Logan and Koa.
Her sister Paisley will be put on a new routine starting tomorrow. She will have free roam of the backyard all night through 9:30-10 am- then I will close off the entrance/exit of the condo until I get home - letting Paisley come out again through the next morning.
The heat here in AZ is intense, and we aren’t even in summer yet. This new routine will go until right before it’s time to hibernate.
Rest In Peace sweet girl!

It is with a saddened heart that I post Baby Everest passed this morning around 1:30 am. I chose his name after Mount Everest, one of the highest mountains above sea level. He made the climb, and is now hovering at the summit watching down on all the baby kittys born and being born, who deserve a fighting chance like him.
THIS IS WHY FOSTERING FOR LOCAL RESCUES MAKES SUCH A HUGE IMPACT! Please consider helping those who will not get a chance.
He gave it his all, as did I, but his little body just couldn’t keep going any longer. He started to have mini seizures, and at that point I knew, nothing was going to save this little man.
He laid comfortable on a heating pad, snuggled with his stuffed animal, and covered with a comfy cozy blanket which he loved.
Fly free baby boy - thank you for letting me try to help and comfort you.
