Stop one to Rincon Puerto Rico is complete. We met with Miriam who is the President of ARF rescue - Animal Rescue Foundation which has been in business for 20 years. Her rescue saves apx 1,000 animals a year, fully vets, and even transports them to rescues in the US. The population of abandoned animals, strays, etc has been dramatically reduced by her ongoing efforts.

She coordinates a mobile clinic twice a month who fixes up to 80 animals at a time, and also coordinates with the humane society 4 days a month for low cost spay/neuter/shots.

Miriam was supplied with emergency reusable solar bags which last up to 10 years, which can used in the future for another emergency. We will re stock from our supplier in AZ, and send more to her rescue and others throughout the island. ** Remember when the hurricane hit there was no electricity or drinkable water. These bags would have come in handy not only for the people on the island, but the animals who also needed fresh water**. Now the rescues will have their own supply.

We are ecstatic to acquire a partnership with ARF, and will be transporting animals into PHX once the weather drops below 85 degrees. ARF has a wonderful relationship with American and United Arline’s who are glad to discount and transport the animals for them.

American Airlines will only transport animals when the temperature is 85 and under in both originating and arrival cities, as the cargo cabin is not temperature controlled. United Airlines will transport year round as their cargo area is temperature controlled.

Unless there is an urgent need to get animals off the island, SOS has agreed to take animals via American Airlines who has a much better reputation with transport.

When I return to AZ, I will start the process of receiving emails of animals available for transport, find sources to provide bulk and affordable flea and tick meds, and start sending out Fedex boxes of solar water bottles to the island.
